Japanese PC Distributors to Auction PCs via Internet
|
February 17, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Japan's major personal computer distributors
will start to auction their inventories via the Internet, a source
close to the companies said.
|
Among the distributors planning to auction their stocks are Daiwabo Information
System Co., Ltd., Ado Electronic Industrial Co., Ltd. and Kaga Electronics
Co., Ltd.
They will use an auction system developed by @Venture Co., Ltd., in an
attempt to reduce inventories of PC hardware and software. They also
are considering establishing a company specializing in Internet auctions.
@Venture is an Internet business planning company.
Considering that Internet auctions are expected to become popular in
near future, @Venture will introduce dealing software for financial
institutions developed by a subsidiary of CSK Corp. in the United States.
That software enables the auction system to deal with bulk transactions.
Additionally, it will make it possible to access and participate in the
auction from video game machines as well as PCs.
