NTT Data Sells Low-Priced ERP Product to Overseas Japanese
|
January 5, 1999 (TOKYO) -- NTT Data Corp. said it will begin selling
in January an enterprise resource planning package product, A.S.I.A
2.5, to Japanese companies in foreign countries.
|
NTT Data said the selling point of the product is the low cost of an
ERP package which has settlement functions based on the international
accounting standards.
The standard price for one ERP package is expected to be 8 million yen
(US$68,800). The company said it hopes to sell 50 ERP systems by the
end of March 1999.
NTT Data said that in addition to the core accounting software, A.S.I.A
also has sales, purchasing and production management software modules.
In order to handle accounting in line with the international accounting
standards, NTT Data provides expansion modules for accounting software
to the accounting departments of the headquarters and branches of a
company.
The modules can integrate accounting results of different fiscal years
and accounting standards compiled by the headquarters and branches.
The modules also have a settlement netting function between a head office
and its branch.
A.S.I.A has more foreign languages than before. In addition to Japanese,
Chinese (simplified characters) and English, it now has four more foreign
languages -- complicated Chinese characters, Korean, Spanish and French.
NTT Data began marketing A.S.I.A in Southeast Asia in September 1996
and in Japan in April 1998. About 100 firms, including Sanyo Electric
Co., Ltd. and Omron Corp., are using its ERP products.
It charges about 8 million yen for one ERP system, a server that can
take care of accounting, sales, purchases and inventory, and five client
machines (the charges include set-up services and guaranteed maintenance
for a year.)
The server software runs on Windows NT and client machines with Windows
NT/95/98.
