Fuji Bank, 3 Others to Run EC Test with GlobeSet's Solutions
|
January 7, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Fuji Bank Ltd., Oki Electric Industry Co.,
Ltd., Credit Saison Co., Ltd. and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. announced
that they would start a cooperative experiment to verify a system for
electronic commerce based on the Secure Electronic Transaction (SET)
protocol in late 1999.
|
The Japanese version of GlobeSet Payment System, a software package developed
by GlobeSet Inc. of the United States, will be used for the experiment.
SET is the communication protocol for transaction processing, which Visa
International and MasterCard International Inc. of the United States
use for payment card settlements on the Internet.
The verification experiment by the four companies is a part of the "Project
for Development and Verification of Advanced Information Systems" promoted
by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) together
with the Japan Information Processing Development Center, a MITI affiliate.
The Japanese version of GlobeSet Payment System, which features keeping
down initial costs and operating costs, will be subject to an examination
for the start of the experiment. GlobeSet Inc. participated in establishing
SET's parameters.
For this experiment, Oki will develop a server application as a combination
of GlobeSet ServerWallet, a server application that also provides the
function of a client machine for card users, and GlobeSet POS, which
functions as a POS terminal.
The server application will be tested in connection with the EC system
already operated by Credit Saison, Fuji Bank and Dai Nippon Printing.
The experiment is expected to confirm the cost-effectiveness of the
new server application as well as its compatibility with the current
system.
