SoftAgency Offers Support For MySQL Database Product
|
January 12, 1999 (TOKYO) -- SoftAgency Co., Ltd. started a business on
Jan. 1 to license and support MySQL, an open source database management
system (DBMS) developed by TCX DataKonsult AB of Sweden.
|
MySQL is a DBMS system for small and midsize businesses and it will run
on a variety of UNIX systems, OS/2 or Windows platforms. The product
was developed with high performance as a priority, and for that reason
it is known for its fast data search capabilities.
MySQL is free, except for the Microsoft Windows versions. However, a
licensing fee is necessary for sales of MySQL or offering installation
services for end users. License payments are possible through the TCX
Web site. But most Japanese users are reluctant to make such payments
via the site because of the complex settlement procedures.
SoftAgency
reached a consulting agreement with TCX and began to sell MySQL and
its support services. Japanese users benefit by receiving services in
Japanese.
Licensing and support fees are as follows.
MySQL License: 28,000 yen (US$250)
MySQL Basic Annual Email Support: 28,000 yen
MySQL Extended Annual Email Support: 150,000 yen (US$1,345)
MySQL Basic Annual Login Support: 280,000 yen
MySQL Extended Annual Login Support: 680,000 yen (US$6,100)
