Koei to Sell PC Game Software Titles in China
|
January 15, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Koei Co., Ltd., one of Japan's leading makers
of PC game software, announced Jan. 12 that it will market its Windows-based
game software in China beginning this month.
|
The game software titles are already sold in Japan.
Koei
explained that the reason for the launch in China is the high penetration
rate of PCs among young Chinese and the substantial demand for game
software.
The company already sells PC game software in Korea, Taiwan, North America
and Europe.
Among the titles of Koei's new products are: Romance of the Three Kingdoms
VI (with power up kits), Legend of Heroes and Bandit Kings of Ancient
China.
These three titles are popular in Japan. The company said that 190,000
copies of Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI have been shipped, 40,000
copies of Legend of Heroes have been shipped, and the number for Bandit
Kings of Ancient China is 110,000 units.
The prices are 168 Yuan (US$20) for Romance, 108 Yuan (US$15) for Legend
and 128 Yuan (US$17) for Bandit Kings.
Romance is planned for release in China at the end of January, and the
other two titles in mid February. The company aims to sell 10,000 copies
a year in China.
Also, Koei said it will look toward other overseas markets for business
opportunities.
