Fujisoft ABC to Offer Linux Software Service in April
|
March 17, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Fujisoft ABC Inc. will begin offering a service
to change Windows PCs used in enterprise systems to Linux-based systems,
the company said.
|
Already, a few vendors offer such services in Japan.
Unlike Microsoft Corp.'s Windows 98 or Windows NT, Linux has less severe
requirements for microprocessor power and memory size. Thus, older PCs,
which cannot be used for the latest version of Windows, can continue
to be used with the Linux operating system.
Because applications for the Linux operating system are not yet popular,
this service will be for those who use limited applications like email
or Web browsers. The service will be provided for any IBM PC-compatible
machine. The fees will vary depending on the hardware configuration,
according to Fujisoft ABC.
