NEC to Start EC Deployment Service with BIGLOBE
|
March 19, 1999 (TOKYO) -- NEC Corp. said it will start the BIGLOBE EC
infrastructure building service for deployment of electronic-commerce
(EC) systems from June.
|
The Tokyo-based electronics company offers account settlement and authentication
services based on BIGLOBE, its Internet connection service.
With the new service, users can build EC systems at lower costs and faster
than if they do it themselves. Vendors provide full packages needed
to deploy EC systems including the basic infrastructure. The charge
is based on the number of accounts settled on the deployed EC system,
plus a flat registration fee of 50,000 yen, NEC said. (118.21 yen =
US$1)
Also, NEC said that it had consigned deployment of an online book retail
site of Bunkyodo Co., Ltd., a bookseller, as the first user.
Bunkyodo will implement NEC's service to open an online bookstore called
"jbook" in June. It will sell nearly 1.2 million items including books,
music CDs, videos and other items.
NEC will add a new service menu to this EC infrastructure-building service,
including the use of debit cards.
