  • [NET & COM ’99] Internet-Pro Displays All-In-One Linux Server
  • February 8, 1999 (TOKYO) — Internet-Pro Corp. exhibited an all-in-one Linux-based server at NET & COM ’99 held from Feb. 2-5 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba prefecture, near Tokyo.
The server, called CUTE 2000, is a package of Debian (one of the Linux versions in distribution) and necessary server software products for Internet connection and intranet deployment.

The hardware is a PC-AT-compatible system that features a 266MHz Pentium MMX processor, 64MB of main memory and a 4.3GB hard disk drive.

Installed software includes not only server software for the Internet like DNS/WWW/SMTP/FTP, but also SAMBA/NETATALK to share files between a Windows machine and a Macintosh, and dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) function for automatic IP address assignments required for intranets.

It is easy to start operating this server just by consulting a manual to set up an IP address on the Web browser. This system carries an open price tag. At present, it is offered at a special campaign price of 198,000 yen (US$1,740).
