  • Apple Computer’s Original iMac PC to be Sold Out
  • January 22, 1999 (TOKYO) — The original Apple iMac PC, which carries a price of 128,000 yen (US$1,130), appears as if it will sell out soon, according to Eikou Harada, president of Apple Japan Inc.
A price cut for the initial model was announced at the time of rolling out the new iMac, which is priced at 158,000 yen (US$1,390) and available in five colors.

However, until the new iMac models appear in stores in late January, the company hopes to lure consumers with the lower-priced original iMac model.

Apple Japan earlier said that it would sell both the new and old iMac models side by side. But after the new iMac model is available, the old iMac will likely disappear quickly.
