Nissan, Others to Develop Intelligent Transport System
|
December 14, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Hitachi Ltd. and
Unisia Jecs Corp. said they will begin feasibility studies to jointly
develop an intelligent transport system.
|
To facilitate the joint development project, a representative for the
three companies said Hitachi is studying the feasibility of taking equity
in Unisia Jecs and dispatching executives to the firm.
The Dec. 7 issue of Nikkei Shimbun reported that Nissan, the largest
stockholder of Unisia Jecs with 29.6 percent of all shares issued, will
sell slightly more than 10 percent of its holding shares to Hitachi.
But Nissan said the company has yet to decide on the percentage.
The three firms said they plan to develop jointly the next-generation
system that emits a jet of liquid fuel, hybrid and electric cars, break-related
systems, electric power steering and other steering-related systems,
as well as a comprehensive vehicle control system comprising all of
these newly developed systems.
