Asahi Breweries to Use NT OS for all Client Computers
|
October 29, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Asahi Breweries Ltd., a leading beer company,
told Nikkei Computer that it plans to use Windows NT Workstation as
the client operating system for its 3,000 PCs as early as March 1999.
|
Already, Asahi has completed migration to Windows NT Workstation 3.51
on about half of its PCs. The remaining 1,500 units with Windows 3.1
are expected to be replaced with Windows NT machines. The decision was
made because the company values NT's stable operation and security features.
Also, Asahi Beer owns about 1,000 Windows 95-based mini notebook PCs
for use outside of office by sales staff. Whether to replace these PCs
with NT Workstations is still under consideration, the company said.
