General Motors Launches Chinese Web Site

February 12, 1999 (BEIJING) -- General Motors Corp., a major automotive
manufacturer, recently opened a Chinese Internet Web site with information
on its branch company in China.

Lawrence Zahner, president of GM China Group, said that the design of
the new GM China Web site (www.gmchina.com)
is intended to bring the latest information about the company to the
Chinese market.
The new Web site offers more than 40 pages of information about GM China
both in Chinese and in English; product information on Buick, Chevrolet,
Cadillac and Opel cars that are sold in China; as well as service centers
and customer assistance information.
It highlights GM's cooperation with China in technological exchanges,
company information on GM's Chinese joint ventures and the latest announcements
from GM China.
GM China now has three joint ventures in China, including Shanghai GM,
an equally shared joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industries
Corp.; the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center; and Jinbei-GM, an equally
shared joint venture with No. 1 Auto Works.
