Internet-Related Companies in Korea Prepare for IPOs
|
February 22, 1999 (SEOUL) -- In the midst of robust growth, many Internet-related
companies in Korea plan to go public soon.
|
Dacom Interpark, an online retailer, is set to list its shares on the
KOSDAQ over-the-counter market in April, industry watchers said.
Several other Korean Internet-related firms, including Yahoo Korea and
Daum Communication, also are considering moves to list their shares.
"Most Korean companies involved in Internet businesses are small and
midsize ventures. Thus, these firms are likely to do initial public
offerings (IPOs) soon to raise substantial operating funds," the industry
watchers also said.
"It's just a matter of time for the major Internet-related companies
to go public. Samsung SDS Co., Ltd. and LG-EDS
Systems Inc. are both in the process of preparing IPOs," an industry
analyst said.
