China's MII Sets Up Three Y2K Training Centers
|
January 19, 1999 (BEIJING) -- China's Ministry of Information Industry
(MII) recently set up three national training centers for directors
and technical personnel handling Year 2000 computer software problems
in state-owned enterprises and institutions.
|
The three training centers are in Beijing, Shanghai and Sichuan province,
and they are under the direct administration of the MII work panel on
Y2K problems.
Experts on Y2K problems will give lectures at the government-sponsored
training centers, which are equipped with computers and comprehensive
teaching materials.
China has set a target to cope with all major Y2K problems and loopholes
in its computer networks by the middle of this year.
However, some enterprises are still slow to react to the Y2K computer
software problems, a ministry official said.
