March 16, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Sharp Corp. will offer an information provider
service, aiming to further expand the market for digital home electric
appliances.

As an initial step, Sharp will start a service for providing customers

For Internet access, Sharp is preparing to offer a simple and convenient
service in an alliance with Internet Initiative Japan Inc.
And as for its information service, the Osaka-based company will provide
customers with information about employment, advanced ticket booking
and others. Information will be supplied by Recruit Co., Ltd., PIA Corp.,
and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc., using the information retrieval
system of Itochu Corp.
As a reception terminal for the service, Sharp will introduce the Zaurus

(10cm diagonal) monochromatic super twisted nematic-liquid crystal display
(STN-LCD) with 320 x 240 pixels.
Also, Sharp decided to "shift its emphasis from sophistication of hardware
