The company's other products that will be marketed at the same time are a 12.1-in. TFT-LCD monitor with 800 x
600 pixels (SVGA), to be sold at 59,800 yen (US$450); a 15.1-in. XGA TFT-LCD monitor, priced at 134,800 yen
(US$1,010); and an 18.1-in. TFT-LCD monitor with 1,280 x 1,024 pixels (SXGA), priced at 299,800 yen

Artwork has a hinging technology for installing a large LCD about the same size as the body of a notebook
personal computer, into that body. The company procures TFT-LCD panels for the monitors from LG Electronics
Inc. of Korea at low prices in exchange for transferring its hinging technology to the Korean maker.
Also, Artwork will market TFT-LCD modules along with the TFT-LCD monitors. Prices will be around 40,000 yen
(US$300) for a 12.1-in. SVGA module; 65,000 yen-70,000 yen (US$488-US$525) for a 14.1-in. XGA module;
80,000-plus yen (US$600) for a 15.1-in. XGA module; and around 250,000 yen (US$1,880) for an 18.1-in. SXGA
module.
The company is now entering the LCD monitor and module businesses. Its sales of LCD monitors and modules are
projected to reach 20 billion yen (US$150 million) in fiscal 1998, company officials said.
