Samsung Display to Increase Production of Ni-H Batteries
|
August 3, 1998 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Display Devices Co., Ltd. said it will
gradually increase production of rechargeable nickel-hydrogen batteries
to 100,000 units a month by the end of 1998.
|
Most nickel-hydrogen batteries were imported before the company developed
its own product in late 1996.
Nickel-hydrogen batteries are widely used in camcoders, notebook PCs
and cellular phones.
Samsung Display Devices said its nickel-hydrogen battery capacity reached
1,900 mAh, surpassing Japanese products, which have a capacity of 1,750
mAh.
The company said the batteries will be used primarily in camcoders.
The company said it will develop other kinds of rechargeable batteries,
such as lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries, this year.
