shut down a microchip assembly plant at its U.S. subsidiary in Oregon
as of Sept. 30.
|
Oki Electric aims to cut down costs by shutting down and consolidating
its assembly bases. The company will pay severance pay to Oki Semiconductor

new jobs.
The plant has been engaged in microchip assembly and testing. At the
present time, its production capacity is 1 million 16Mb DRAMs per month
and 50,000 microcontrollers per month.
After the closing, the assembly process will be transferred to Oki (Thailand)
