  • Samsung Corp. to Open Internet Shopping Mall
  • August 31, 1998 (SEOUL) -- The distribution division of Samsung Corp. will offer an online shopping service through an "Internet shopping mall" starting Sept. 22.
Samsung hopes to distinguish itself from existing Internet department stores run by Lotte, Shinsegae and Hyundai. Samsung intends to do this by establishing an "Internet supermarket" that provides a selection of 1,500 items.

In addition, Samsung also will provide various other services such as banking, insurance, real estate services, rentals and a variety of others.

Products will be delivered free-of-charge anywhere in the country within two days and payment will be made by credit cards or bank account transfers.
