Samsung SDS Pres. Named Korea's Communication Minister
|
December 24, 1998 (SEOUL) -- Namgoong Suek, president of Samsung SDS
Co., Ltd., was named to serve as Korea's new minister of information
and communication.
|
Korean President Kim Dae-jung appointed Namgoong to the post on a motion
by Prime Minister Kim Jong-phil, a government spokesman said.
Namgoong, 60, an ex-president of Korea PC Communication, has served as
the chief of Samsung's systems integration unit since 1993.
He will replace Bae Soon-hoon, who resigned last week following his controversial
remarks against the government-backed business swap between Samsung
Motors Inc. and Daewoo Electronics Co. Bae had been president of Daewoo
Electronics until he was appointed to the post of information and communication
minister under the current administration.
