February 2, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Nihon Unisys Ltd. will start selling Cadceus, a 3D computer-aided
design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) application program, in the United States this
spring.
The application software was developed by Nihon Unisys, without its parent company Unisys Corp.
of the U.S. The initial sales targets are mechanical process divisions of auto makers.
Although the Big Three are moving toward introducing 3-D CAD/CAM software in their design
divisions, Nihon Unisys said it prefers to target production divisions.
Nihon Unisys has already marketed Cadceus software in Southeast Asia. In the U.S., the company
has supplied the English version of the software to local subsidiaries of Japanese companies.
Nihon Unisys plans to display the software at such CAD/CAM-related exhibitions as Daratech and
Autofact. It intends to set up dealer networks independent of the parent company.
