  • Sony to Sell 15-in. TFT-LCDs for Individuals
  • February 25, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Sony Corp. said it will start selling its CPD-L150 15-in. TFT-LCD monitor on March 16 for individual users.
    The company expects the price to be around 250,000 yen (US$1,938).

    It so far has sold its 10.4-in. TFT-LCD monitors for corporate use; this is the first time the company is selling TFT-LCD monitors for individual use.

    The CPD-L150 has a maximum resolution of 1,024 x 768 dots, and is capable of displaying 16.19 million colors. When displaying low resolutions at 800 x 600 dots or 640 x 480 dots on a full screen, it can prevent screen distortion by a smoothing process.

    Its luminance is 200 cd/m 2. It has a vertical viewing angle of 60 degrees and a horizontal viewing angle of 70 degrees.

    Its interface is analog RGB. There is no dedicated interface board necessary.

    The size of the monitor is 398mm wide x 366mm high x 165mm deep, and it weighs 5.3kg.
