January 8, 1998 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. set its
export goal at US$13 billion for 1998.
A Samsung spokesperson said the decision was made during an
emergency meeting to discuss ways to intensify its export
division.
Samsung's export goal for 1998 was increased 17 percent compared
to the previous year's US$11 billion.
Samsung will focus on the development and production of
semiconductors and info-telecom devices.
The company also plans to independently develop components needed
to manufacture its major export items, including 64M DRAM chips,
CDMA-based mobile phones and digital TVs.
