January 13, 1998 (BEIJING) -- The Beijing University Founder Group Corp., one of China's major
manufacturers of computer hardware and software, plans to take bigger strides into the global market
during 1998.
| According to Founder President Wang Xuan, the company scored notable success in exploring foreign
markets in 1997, with its product line, including printing software and computer monitors, selling well
overseas.
In 1997, Founder sold software valued at US$3 million to Japanese printing companies, with its graphics
processors being sold to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and Japan.
Some 60 percent of two million monitors that it made in 1997 were exported to foreign countries.
Wang said in 1998 the company will try to increase exports of graphic processors to North America.
The company achieved a 1997 sales volume of close to RMB6 billion (US$723 million), up 50 percent over
the previous year. He said his company will spend 4-5 percent of its annual earnings on new product
development.
