Akia Reduces Prices of Seven TFT-LCD Monitors
|
June 10, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Akia Corp. announced that it reduced the
prices of all seven models of its thin film transistor-liquid
crystal display (TFT-LCD) monitors by 8.4 percent to 16.7 percent.

Akia said that it is offering the first 13.3-in. TFT-LCD monitor
priced less than 100,000 yen (US$709).
Model specifications, new prices and the percent of reduction of the
seven monitors are as follows:
- MT12S (12.1-in., SVGA, specific graphics card attached); 89,800
yen (US$640); down 8.4 percent
- RT133X (13.3-in., XGA); 99,800 yen (US$708); down 16.7 percent
- RT145X (14.5-in., XGA)/ 129,800 yen (US$920); down 13.4 percent
- MT145X (14.5-in., XGA, specific graphics card attached); 158,000
yen (US$1,120); down 11.2 percent
- RT145XR (14.5-in., XGA, rotating-type); 168,000 yen (US$1,190);
down 10.6 percent
- RT150X (15-in., XGA); 139,800 yen (US$986); down 15.2 percent
- RT161SX (16.1-in., SXGA); 268,000 yen (US$1,900); down 10.1
percent
Along with these price reductions, Akia started to sell three models
(the RT133X, RT150X and RT161SX) at special prices via the Internet
from June 8 to the end of July.
The online price of the RT133X is reduced by 5,000 yen (US$35), that
of the RT150X is cut by 10,000 yen (US$71), and RT161SX's price is
slashed by 20,000 yen (US$142) as compared to the standard new
prices.
These three modes carrying the special campaign prices can be
purchased only through Akia's home page, "Akia THE NET DIRECT" (http://www.akia.co.jp/)
(available only in Japanese). Each customer can order a maximum of
ten monitors and payment must be made in advance.
