  • Microsoft CEO Gates, Softbank's Son Visit Korea
  • June 18, 1998 (SEOUL) -- Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill Gates arrived in Seoul on Wednesday and will meet with President Kim Dae-jung on Thursday to provide his views on foreign investment in Korea.
Gates' visit comes just after the U.S. software giant tentatively agreed to invest US$10 million-US$20 million in Korea's top word -processing software developer, Hangul & Computer Co.

Gates is being accompanied by Softbank president and CEO Masayoshi Son.

The Microsoft CEO is scheduled to give a lecture Thursday afternoon at a National Assembly conference room, where he will emphasize the need for Korea to increase investments in the information industry as a way to pull out of the economic crisis.
