Hyundai said Nov. 4 that it will supply 1 million units of its personal
communications services (PCS) handsets to mobile phone service providers
in North America and Latin America through AudioVox, a U.S.-based retailer.
"The other 500,000 units are code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular
phones, and will be exported to PrimeCo, a U.S.-based telecom company,"
a company official said.
"These contracts signal a bright future for exporting our mobile phones,"
the official added.
Hyundai said the U.S. CDMA cellular phone market will expand to 8 million
