  • Dell Computer Sets Up Service Center in Xiamen, China
  • November 9, 1998 (XIAMEN, China) -- Dell Computer Corp. recently opened a service center in Xiamen, a coastal city in eastern China's Fujian province, to help expand its sales in the country.
The center, which employs 200 staff, combines production, marketing and customer services.

Michael Dell, president and CEO of the Round Rock, Texas-based company, noted that China is the fastest growing PC market in the Asia-Pacific region.

He said the service center demonstrates Dell Computer's long-term confidence in China.

The company, the world's leading direct marketer of computer systems, introduced direct sales to nine Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xiamen, in August.

Customers can place telephone and Internet orders, and receive Dell's uniform service guarantee for computer systems.
