JEIDA to Examine Standard for Digital Camera Image File Management
|
October 7, 1998 (TOKYO) -- The Japan Electronic Industry Development
Association is examining a digital camera image file standard that would
allow communications among various devices.
|
In addition to the Exif Version 2.1, a file format standard which had
already been set up in June 1998, JEIDA plans to set up standards for
image file exchanges between such devices as digital cameras and printers.
JEIDA's aim is to allow digital cameras and printers complying with the
standard to easily exchange image data even in a multi-vendor environment.
Comprehensive studies are expected to be carried out by the Digital Camera
Technical Committee. The standard is tentatively called "Digital Camera
File (DCF) Standard."
When the standard is set, JEIDA will submit its proposal to the International
Standards Organization.
