  • VISA Opens First Service Center in China
  • October 14, 1998 (SHANGHAI, China) -- VISA International, the world's leading credit card company, recently opened its first VISA Product Replacement center in China.
The center, located at the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Bank of Industry and Commerce, will provide wide-ranging services for credit card holders, including access to cash withdrawals and emergency applications for new cards.

VISA introduced the service to China in response to the country's flourishing tourist industry and credit card companies, which are attracting ever more foreign card holders, said Zhang Kaichun, a VISA senior manager.

The company has established 30 similar centers around the world, including 20 in the Asia-Pacific region.

Shanghai, China's commercial and financial center, has more than 1,000 ATM machines linked to the global VISA/PLUS Network.
