|
October 16, 1998 (BEIJING) -- NCR Corp. of the United States, the world's
leading automatic teller machine (ATM) maker, recently established a
foothold in China with its first ATM joint venture plant in the country.
|
The joint venture, NCR (Beijing) Financial Equipment System Co., Ltd.,
was established by NCR and the Beijing C&W; Electronics (Group) Co. at
a cost of US$29 million. The plant specializes in manufacturing NCR's
most advanced ATM systems.
The plant, which covers 18,000 square meters in the Beijing Economic
Development Zone, is scheduled for completion by the end of August 1999.
The facility will be NCR's third foreign ATM plant, with other plants
located in Scotland and Canada.
According to NCR's general manager Peter Zee, establishing the joint
venture in China was of great importance to the nation's banking industry.
It fully demonstrated that China is keeping abreast with international
developments in high technology for the financial services industry.
