Sony to Sell Management Software for Motion Pictures
|
October 20, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Sony Corp. on Nov. 10 will start selling
PictureGear Ver3.0 software to manage image data in a personal computer.
|
The program can manage MPEG1 audio visual interleaved (AVI) files. Its
motion picture management function can break down stored images for
display to check contents. It does not reproduce the whole file, but
displays 30 frames of a motion picture evenly to a given time. In addition,
the software has a function to produce a 360-degree panorama picture
from several pictures.
It corresponds to MPEG1/AVI/FlashPix/TIFF/JPEG/BMP/GIF/DV still picture
and Sony's Cybershot digital camera (DSC-F1/F2/F3) picture format. Data
exchange among several formats is possible.
By registering picture data stored on a floppy disk or a PC card to a
hard disk drive in thumbnail size, its catalog search function displays
images as thumbnails, without inserting the floppy disk and PC card
into a personal computer.
It is available for Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 at a price of 9,800 yen (US$85).
