  • Nokia Opens Industrial Park in Beijing
  • October 30, 1998 (BEIJING) -- Finland's Nokia recently opened an industrial park in Beijing with a research center, a training center, and sales and production sections.
    Finnish Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen attended the opening.

    Nokia, the world's second-largest mobile phone producer, set up the industrial park as its business center in China. Nokia has two other joint ventures in Beijing.

    Folke Ahlback, chairman of Nokia (China), noted that the city is very important to Nokia.

    Beijing's Vice-Mayor Zhang Mao said that the municipal government will try to attract more businesses to build regional centers in Beijing.
