| China's Technology Export Fair Goes Online

September 1, 1998 (BEIJING) -- Some 3,500 types of technology that can
be transferred from China can now be seen on the Web site of the Online
Technology Export Fair of China.

The items include machinery, chemicals, electronics, building materials,
aviation and space technology, bioengineering and some of the country's
most advanced carrier rocket and agricultural cloning technology.
Shi Guangsheng, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation
(MOFTEC), said that this was the first time for China to use the World
Wide Web to show technology for exports.
MOFTEC began to release commodity information in early July on "Chinamarket"
on the Internet, and in a month it had attracted more than 10 million
visits.
Shi added he hopes to increase technology exports in this way.
