| LG Electronics Makes Test Version 50-in. PDP for HDTV

September 29, 1998 (TOKYO) -- LG Electronics Inc. said it succeeded in
making a prototype of a 50-in. plasma display panel (PDP) for high-definition
television (HDTV).

Its resolution is 1,360 x 768 pixels, and the aspect ratio is 16:9. A
special driver IC is used for receiving both HDTV and existing NTSC
broadcasts.
The company said that it is planning to construct a production system
for the PDP. It hopes to make about 1.2 million units a year by 2005,
and to secure a market share of 12 percent of the global PDP market.
LG Electronics is exhibiting the test PDP at the Asia Display '98 international
conference on displays held in Seoul from Sept. 28.
