  • [LCD/PDP International '98] Samsung to Ship 30-in. TFT-LCDs in Early November
  • November 3, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. said it plans to ship 30-in. thin-film transistor liquid-crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels for U.S. enterprises in early November.
They TFT-LCDs are for military use, Samsung said.

The company made the disclosure at the "LCD/PDP International '98", an expo held from Oct. 28-30 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture, near Tokyo.

The company exhibited the panel for the second straight year at the expo. Samsung said the price per panel shipped will top US$30,000.

Touching on the demand-supply of LCD panels, the company also disclosed that its supply would not be able to meet their demand. The demand for 12.1-in. TFT-LCD panels also has not been met, and a supply shortage of 14.1-in. panels is likely to occur because the market is expanding, Samsung said.
