LG Semicon DRAM Plant May Resume Operations Feb. 6
|
February 3, 1999 (TOKYO) -- LG Semicon Co., Ltd. is expected to resume
production of DRAMs as early as Feb. 6 following a labor-management
dispute.
|
A Korean government official involved with microchip policy told Nikkei
Electronics of the production resumption.
The resumption is the result of active tripartite consultations between
the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Energy of Korea, LG Semicon and
Korea's Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd., the official said.
LG Semicon's management decided to pay a special bonus to all its employees.
This decision has been reported to the trade union that is leading the
current interruption in production.
Production at the company's Cheongju plant, its main DRAM factory, has
been halted since Jan. 24.
