Most APEC Firms Eye China Market, Survey Says
|
February 3, 1999 (BEIJING) -- A recent survey showed most Asia Pacific
Economic Cooperation enterprises consider China one of the most attractive
areas for investment in the Asia Pacific.
|
The survey, conducted by the China Entrepreneurs Survey System (CESS)
at the end of 1998, showed that 87 percent of some 5,000 managers of
APEC firms with investments in China consider the country to be one
of the most attractive areas for investment in the Asia Pacific region.
APEC firms account for more than 80 percent of foreign direct investment
in China.
In addition, 95 percent of the firms surveyed noted the foreign investment
scale in China is relatively low, thus offers vast potential for expansion.
Some 95.2 percent of the APEC firms expressed confidence in the profit
potential for investments in China, with 73 percent of the firms having
a long-term investment plan extending five years or longer.
The CESS said that the successful operations of the firms over the years
have greatly enhanced their confidence. The survey showed 63 percent
of the firms reported improved profits over the past two years, with
only 15 percent reporting lower profits.
Foreign investors consider China's economy, stable political environment
and vast potential market as the most attractive factors.
