  • Boeing Helps China with Y2K Problem
  • March 9, 1999 (BEIJING) -- American aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co. is helping China solve the millennium bug problem.
    Boeing has solved the Y2K problems related to its aircraft, and is actively providing technical consulting services to Chinese airline companies and other domestic clients.

    All aspects involving the production and operations of Boeing aircraft depend heavily on computers. Therefore, finding solutions to Y2K problems represented an urgent task for the company, and the aviation industry as a whole.

    "We have developed updated software and hardware packages to overcome possible problems, and we ensure the safety of all Boeing aircraft," a company official said.

    Boeing has distributed a complete sets of materials which will enable clients to deal with the problem. It also plans to sponsor a seminar to inform Chinese customers of Y2K solutions.
