![]() NEC to Release an A-6 Sized Flat-bed Scanner October 1, 1998 (TOKYO) -- NEC Corp. exhibited a prototype of its A-6 sized flat-bed color scanner at World PC Expo 98, the largest exhibition of personal computing products in Asia. The show runs through Oct. 3 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture in Japan. NEC's scanner prototype is designed for mobile use along with a portable PC to scan documents outside the office, enabling users to send out documents by e-mail. Optical resolution is 300dpi. Specialized OCR software allows users to read documents. The machine has a blue half-transparent resin and silver metal case. The scanner's cover is replaceable. Document positioning can be adjusted through a transparent window located at the bottom of the scanner. The product has a USB connector, and is compatible with Windows PC and the iMac. NEC plans to release the scanner around mid-October. The price has not yet been determined. (BizTech News Dept.) |
